Holy crap whats happening to my arm?!?

Greetings,
Name even one better way to release pressure (teehee) after a tough day than hack 'n' slash mayhem. Probably one of the most underrated imo is Prototype, in which you use your protagonists mutant shapeshifting powers to wreak havoc on your enemies. Sounds like just another superhero mid to low tier game? Well luckily Alex Mercer's vocabulary doesn't include the word 'collateral damage'. Atleast not avoiding it.

I mean this guy does not care if he even had to plummet his body through a retirement home at breakfast time when it is bacon breakfast day to get to his goal. He just couldn't give a damn. Hes pissed 'cos he was... well I won't spoil the story but let's say bad people did bad things to him. A virus has infected him and no one likes him anymore :(. I think he just needs a hug... so he can return it with his mutant maul arms, mmyee! Stealth and straight in da face combat head rippin' goodness is all included in Protype.

Like Alex Mercer the main character, Prototype is one of those games that really divides people in half. You either hate it or love it, and I wouldn't be writing if I didn't love it would I? Normally I'd say haters gonna hate to those people that don't like it, but i'm gonna try my best to give a reason here:

I'm gonna compare this a bit to the first Assassin's Creed game, because  like in that game I was interested enough to continue playing the oh-so-repetitive tasks and quests even after dying many many times in the hard parts of the game. Why? Maybe because the badassery, maybe because the freeroaming. Like I said in the post about sandboxes I really enjoy freedom in games. Anyway the game is getting a sequel, another chance for me to compare this to AC.

Most of the people disliking Prototype are now raging on forums throughout the intrawebs whining: "WHY DONT YOU MAKE A NEW GAME RAWRARWRAWR THAT GAME WAS BAD DUNT SEQUELIZE IT FUU!11!!". Well here is were AC comes in again johnny boy: I admit it. AC wasn't that good but hey, look at the sequel, it and it's offspring are awesome! So why wouldn't Prototypes sequel be good? I bet there were lots of whiners when they announced AC2 too. Atleast give it a chance :)

Anyways, I hope this scrapes off some of the sceptics after Prototype 2. Heres all for today, enjoy checking out Prototype 2's trailer embedded here. Oh and as a side note, check out deviant arts Doubleleaf's drawings about prototype, assassin's creed and even dragon age II, they are reeaaally sexy... the yogurt ones are my favourites.. SLURPS!

  14. "I was interested enough to continue playing the oh-so-repetitive tasks and quests"

Perfect description of me playing WoW.

This game was ok. The controls are a bit wonky at times. After I finished the main story line I felt like there was nothing left to do. I started collecting gold metals and finding the power-ups but I couldn't keep it up.

Kudos to anyone who can do the hardest time trials, those are absolutely ridiculous.
